Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Leh (3500m) (Full day rest for acclimatization)

Land in the beautiful airport of Leh which is situated amidst the scenic Himalayas. Our tour representative will assist you in completing the hotel transfer formalities.

Leh is situated at an altitude of 3.5 kilometers above sea level. The air is thinner in the mountains, and some people can experience breathing difficulties and mountain sickness. To be sure that we do not face any such difficulties in our trek, we have kept today's day to give your body sufficient time to acclimatize to the weather.

The overnight stay will be at the hotel in Leh.

Day 02: Leh Sightseeing (Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Local Market)

On the second day of your trekking package for Markha Valley with homestay enjoy your mouth-watering breakfast and proceed towards Shanti stupa. The Shanti stupa is a beautiful Buddhist structure built by the Japanese monk Gyomo Nakamura. The Shanti stupa or the Peace Pagoda is made by this monk on many locations as a part of a larger peace initiative all over the world. This is a two-storeyed stupa contains some of the most important relics in Buddhism which includes a relic donated by the 14th Dalai Lama. Enjoy spellbinding views of the nearby mountains from the Shanti stupa. The pure white Shanti stupa stands tall, located on a height of 3609 meters, epitomizing the tranquility of Leh.

The design philosophy of the Leh palace resembles the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Built by the Namgyal dynasty of Ladakh, Leh palace is now managed by the archaeological survey of India (ASI) and the building holds a rich collection of artifacts in a museum. Do not forget to visit the victory tower which symbolizes the bravery of Ladakhi soldiers who repelled in strong Balti Kashmiri invasion in the 16 century.

After you have had your mountain views to your heart's content, we move on and visit the local markets of Leh. Wooden handicrafts, ornamental beads, pashmina shawls, thangka paintings, silver jewelry, Ladakhi turquoise jewelry and dry fruits like apricots are the items that are famous in the markets of Leh.

Day 03: Leh – Chilling – Skiu (Transfer from Leh to Chilling)

Have your nutritious breakfast and fill your tummy with it. You are going to need lots of energy today as we are going to climb the first pass of your expedition, the Ganda La trek. Walk slowly on this trek and enjoy the scenic beauty of the mighty Himalayas.

The bewitching views of the Stok Kangri mountain range will fill your heart with joy and you will forget the tiredness that you would have invariably felt in this trek.

You will walk from the mountains towards the valley where we shall reach a tiny village of Shingo. After having your hot and steaming lunch in Shingo, rest for some time before we proceed towards the Skiu village. Enjoy beautiful rivulets on your way from Shingo to Skiu. These rivulets add another dimension to the beauty of these great mountains. Give those tired legs some rest after you reach Skiu.

Your overnight stay will be at the camp in Skiu.

Day 04: Skiu - Markha

On the fourth day of your Markha valley trek, we cross the river and start our expedition towards the Markha village. Today is the longest day of our trekking expedition. If you are a shutterbug, then the day will be even longer as you will find many click-worthy moments that you will be able to capture on this trek. Spend some quiet time in a small Monastery located on this trek.

Enjoy an overnight stay in Markha.

Day 05: Markha to Hankar

Today is the fifth day of your Markha valley trekking expedition. We start by walking alongside the river and enjoy one of the most enigmatic views that you will ever see in your life. For reaching the Hankar village, you will have to pass through the beautiful Thinlespa village. The entire path is lined with woody bushes and it is one of the most mesmerizing scenes that you shall see in this part of the world. The captivating views of Gyalpo-Ri are what you get as the remuneration for your efforts. Enjoy a mouth-watering local dinner at the Hankar village and spend the night under the starry skies of Hankar.

Enjoy a night halt in the tents at Hankar.

Day 06: Hankar to Nimaling (4,700 m, 3 to 4 hours)

After having your sumptuous breakfast, we will head towards Nimaling. The Nimaling plateau is a lush green meadow surrounded by snowcapped mountains. You will feel like you have entered a scene of a Bollywood movie. Many animals like the yak, the sheep, and the goat treat the Nimaling plateau as a pasture ground. Beautiful ponds and streams are surrounding the Nimaling plateau which allows you to steal a moment with yourself. It seems that time has stood still on this entrancing plateau.

The overnight stay will be at the Nimaling.

Day 07: Nimaling to Shangsumdo (Transfer from Shangsumdo to the hotel)

Today is the last day of your trekking expedition. We start by climbing the Kangmaru pass. The magnanimous beauty of the Kangmaru pass will enthrall your heart and mind. You will get a glimpse of Mount K2, which is one of the highest mountains in the world on the famous Karakoram mountain range. Spend some time admiring the Sulphur springs Chyushkarmo on your way towards the descending trail of Marteslang valley towards the village of Shangsumdo. From here we will arrange for an assisted transfer to your hotel in Leh.

Day 08: Leh – Pangong - Leh

Have your delightful breakfast and enjoy the scenic views of the Himalayas sipping some hot tea/coffee before you leave to see one of the most enchanting lakes in the world, the Pangong Lake.

Situated at an altitude of 4350 meters, The Lake shares a border between India and Tibet. The navy blue color of the Pangong Lake goes well with the brown-white mountains surrounding it along with the blue skies. You can spend some quiet time here, contemplating life and throwing some pebbles in the lake. The serenity that you experience at The Pangong Lake is unmatched.

We return to Leh in the evening. The overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day 09: Leh - Delhi

After having your taste bud- tantalizing breakfast we move towards the Leh airport for your return flight. We expect that you will have fond memories once you complete your Markha Valley trekking tour.
