The Chardham Yatra is a famous pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand, India, which includes four sacred sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Here is some general information about each of these destinations:

  1. Yamunotri: Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River. It is located in the western Himalayas at an altitude of around 3,293 meters (10,804 feet). The main attraction is the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims usually undertake a trek of approximately 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) from Janki Chatti to reach the temple.

  2. Gangotri: Gangotri is the origin of the holy River Ganges, also known as the Ganga. Situated at an altitude of approximately 3,042 meters (9,980 feet), it is an important pilgrimage site. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, is the main attraction. To reach the temple, pilgrims often have to undertake a trek of around 19 kilometers (11.8 miles) from Gangotri town.

  3. Kedarnath: Kedarnath is a highly revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at an elevation of approximately 3,583 meters (11,755 feet). The famous Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is the highlight of the visit. Pilgrims typically need to undertake a trek of about 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) from Gaurikund to reach the temple.

  4. Badrinath: Badrinath is the final destination of the Chardham Yatra and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Situated at an altitude of around 3,133 meters (10,279 feet), it is a significant pilgrimage site. The Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Badrinath, is the main attraction. It is accessible by road, and the town is located close to Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side near the Indo-China border.

The Chardham Yatra is usually undertaken between April/May and October/November, as the sites remain inaccessible during the winter months due to heavy snowfall. Pilgrims often follow a specific route or itinerary to visit all four destinations.

Please note that it's important to check the latest travel advisories, weather conditions, and any specific guidelines or restrictions from local authorities or official sources before planning your Chardham Yatra, as there may be variations and updates based on the current circumstances.
